[HanCinema's News] "Secret Zoo" Nears Million Viewer Mark at the South Korean Box Office

According to figures released by the Korean Film Council, "Secret Zoo" has now attracted over 900,000 admissions at the South Korean box office after seven days of domestic release.

This marks the movie's seventh straight day as leader of the South Korean box office, handily outperforming foreign films in the second and third spots. "Secret Zoo" deals with desperate zoo employees who pretend to be animals upon losing access to the zoo's actual menagerie.

While these numbers are decent for a comedy film with low expectations, they are unlikely to last into next weekend. "Secret Zoo" faces direct comedy genre competition from "Mr. Zoo: The Missing VIP" and "Hitman: Agent Jun", which release on January 22nd. However, the best performing new movie for Lunar New Year weekend will most likely be the realistic spy drama "The Man Standing Next" starring Lee Byung-hyun, which is currently leading in ticket reservations.
