[HanCinema's News] Park So-dam Talks About "Phantom"

In the latest issue of Esquire Korea, Park So-dam discussed how no one at the filming of "Phantom" knew she was suffering from thyroid cancer, confirming an earlier comment from Lee Hanee to the same effect. Park So-dam claims this silence was motivated because of mental and emotional burnout. But despite her poor condition, Park So-dam claimed that director Lee Hae-yeong watched over her and gave her enough positive energy that she work even in her poor physical condition.

Park So-dam also thanked director Bong Joon-ho of "Parasite" and director Zhang Lu of "Fukuoka" for helping her to work on "Phantom" as well. Park So-dam considered it an honor to work alongside Lee Hanee, Sol Kyung-gu, and Park Hae-soo and was doubtful any actress her age could have had a chance to work with so many distinguished actors at the same time. Park So-dam also mentioned watching the first screening with Lee Hanee, and how they thought their final scene was too emotional.

Apparently director Lee Hae-yeong had instructed them to make the scene too emotional. However, Park So-dam noted that all the individual moments of the final sequence were about as intense. Park So-dam also said that the current moment was her happiest one, being able to see film spectators again. She was nervous seeing them up close due to COVID-19, though. "Phantom" has earned 117,035 admissions in the three days starting on January 18th it has been in South Korean theaters.
