The nominations are out for the seventy-seventh Golden Globe Awards, and "Parasite" has been nominated in three categories. The highly-acclaimed film will compete in the Best Foreign Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Director categories.

"Parasite" was not eligible for the best comedy or best drama categories for film, because the Hollywood Foreign Press Association bars films from those categories if at least half of the film is presented in a foreign language. "Parasite" is presented entirely in Korean, and thus was ineligible.
These rules are peculiar to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Most critic associations, film festivals, and trade associations do not explicitly bar foreign films from competing for the best film awards. This includes the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which hands out the Academy Awards. However, those nominations will not be announced until next year.
