[HanCinema's News] "Parasite" and "Crash Landing on You" Top Japanese Netflix Charts

The acclaimed 2019 film "Parasite" by director Bong Joon-ho has topped the Japanese Netflix charts. "Parasite" was released in on the Japanese version of the streaming site on January 1st and has led all films in the subsequent days of its availability. To date Japan is the only region to have acquired the streaming rights for "Parasite" via Netflix. As of January 4th the only other South Korean movie in the Japanese Netflix top ten is "Train to Busan" in the tenth position.

Dramawise the South Korean media presence on Netflix is more robust, with "Crash Landing on You" leading the drama charts following the revelation that lead actors Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin are in a romantic relationship. "Crash Landing on You" has long show resilience on the Japanese Netflix chart, leading such other dramas as "Itaewon Class", "Start Up", and "Sweet Home" even before the announcement. As of January fourth those dramas were sixth, seventh, and eighth place respectively.
