[HanCinema's News] Kim Chung Expresses Fondness for Jeong Yun-hui

On a recent broadcast of the talk variety show Park Won-sook's Live Together, various older actresses took a moment to reminisce about their old compatriot in the South Korean film industry, Jeong Yun-hui. With the upcoming rerelease of the classic eighties film "Shall Cuckoo Sing at Night" more attention is being paid to the actress, who retired in 1984 to get married. Kim Chung, Kim Young-ran, and Lee Hye-eun were all present. Park Won-sook hosted the session.

Kim Chung described Jeong Yun-hui as her older sister, and said that she missed her quite a lot. Kim Chung described Jeong Yun-hui as very pretty and cute, and that she always seemed like such a bright girl. Kim Young-ran added that back in the nineties twenties she had lived in the same neighborhood as Jeong Yun-hui. Because of their children, the two ran into each other with some frequency.

Jeong Yun-hui was quite the star in the early eighties. The actress did not just make "Shall Cuckoo Sing at Night" but also "Parrot Cries with Its Body" which will also be rereleased later this month on May 26th. "Shall Cuckoo Sing at Night" will be rereleased on May 12th. Jeong Yun-hui's best known movie outside of South Korea is most likely "Village of Haze" in part because the Im Kwon-taek directed film has been translated into English and can be seen here.
