[HanCinema's News] Jung Young-joo Makes Special Appearance in "The Penthouse 3"

In the long awaited premiere of "The Penthouse 3" the thrilling drama centered around violent conflict among a set of South Korea's upper classes continued the trend set by "The Penthouse 2" of including surprise special appearances. This time, famed musical actress Jung Young-joo appeared as Queen Sis. The characters played by Shin Eun-kyung and Yoon Joon-hee are introduced to her at the penitentiary where they have been sentenced for their crimes.

Queen Sis is played as an eccentric character, reveling in massages and singing. The bewildering performance did much to grab viewer attention, although it was well in-step with Jung Young-joo image of playing matriarchal characters in overly exaggerated contexts. Jung Young-joo played the title role in a recent stage musical production of "Bernarda Alba" that was broadcast via CGV.

Jung Young-joo also had a similar appearance in the fifth episode of "Vincenzo" where she played an unnamed woman who picks a fight with reporters after losing at trial. The apparent continuity of the appearances is most likely a coincidence. Jung Young-joo also had a leading role in the comedy film "My Big Mama's Wild Ride" back in February that was produced for the streaming market. "The Penthouse 3" had ratings of 19.5% in its first episode.
