[HanCinema's News] "Hospital Playlist" Teases Second Season With Open-ended Finale

On May 28th "Hospital Playlist" completed its successful run with ratings of over 14%. The slow paced hospital drama, which focused more on the personal lives of doctors than medical emergencies, was a big hit with fans who enjoyed its unique genre blend. A long-anticipated second season to the drama was also deliberately teased with an unresolved plot thread.

The story point in question was the unresolved sexual tension between the lead actor, a liver surgeon played by Cho Jung-seok, and a neurosurgeon played by Jeon Mi-do. Though the two had been friends for a long time the prospect of prolonged separation forced a love confession between the pair. While much of "Hospital Playlist" dealt with the romantic entanglements of other doctors, these two remained a curious anomaly that remained unresolved even in the final episode.

Jeon Mi-do has even said herself in interviews that there is far more going on with the relationship between these two characters than has been expressed to date. Jeon Mi-do also stated that a second season would likely delve into such issues. Ironically enough, though "Hospital Playlist" had to be shortened to twelve episodes from its original sixteen, the reduction has likely played into its favor in terms of making a second season happen, precisely because not everything could be resolved.
