[HanCinema's News] "Collectors" to Sneak up in November

While many big profile films have had their releases pushed back or are mulling over premiering in streaming services, the lower profile "Collectors" is still pushing ahead for a release next month. The caper movie deals with tomb raiders, chief among them Kang Dong-goo (played by Lee Je-hoon). The adventure flick is an unusual genre choice in the South Korean market, and features a newbie director with Park Jung-bae and a newbie producer with Hwang Dong-hyuk.

But neither man is new to filmmaking in general, with Park Jung-bae having a wide array of assistant director credits and Hwang Dong-hyuk writing and directing such films as "Silenced", and "The Fortress". The two of them are taking a bigger leadership role with "Collectors" and have also assembled a young staff to assist with the project. Park Jung-bae described himself being inspired by the content of "Collectors" itself, with its strong emphasis on teamwork.

Producer Hwang Dong-hyuk has also expressed strong faith in his director, praising Park Jung-bae's steadiness and faithfulness in managing the production. The actors have also purportedly talked up his sense of professionalism. The great hope for "Collectors" is that the steady guiding hands of seasoned veterans will make up for the relative lack of hype. But then, marketing for "Collectors" has not yet begun in earnest, though "Collectors" is still expected to premiere next month.
