[HanCinema's News] "Broker" Breaks Million Viewer Mark

On June 18th, "Broker" officially obtained over a million admissions at the South Korean box office. The road trip movie deals with the misadventures of various persons at a baby box, which is a location where parents can drop off unwanted children with no fear of reprisal. The movie was widely acclaimed at the Cannes Film Festival, where it earned a Best Actor award for Song Kang-ho.

Song Kang-ho, alongside the other main actors Gang Dong-won, Lee Joo-young, and Lee Ji-eun, as well as director Hirokazu Koreeda, posted a commemorative picture of themselves holding balloons to celebrate the milestone. "Broker" is unlikely to hit any further major milestones, as it only had 65,197 admissions of June 18th for a cumulative total of 1,051,561 admissions. Nevertheless, "Broker" remains a noteworthy success story in the long-depressed South Korean film market.
