[HanCinema's News] Arrest Warrant Issued for Yoon Ji-oh on the Charge of Fraud

On October 30th South Korean police confirmed that they have sought out an arrest warrant for Yoon Ji-oh. The warrant follows three requested summons for the former actress since July in regards to alleged fraud. An arrest warrant was also issued last month, but denied for failing to include enough supplementary evidence for its necessity. The submission made on October 28th addressed this shortfall and was quickly accepted.

Now that the warrant has been issued, South Korean police are allowed to cooperate with Canadian police in order to investigate alleged crimes perpetrated by Yoon Ji-oh. Her passport has been suspended, and Interpol has been alerted as to her possibility of attempting to flee the country.

Yoon Ji-oh left South Korea back in April following accusations from a writer who she worked with on a book about departed actress Jang Ja-yeon that she had deliberately lied about certain events depicted in the book. Suspicions were also raised about what Yoon Ji-oh was doing with the large amounts of money donated for her personal security. Yoon Ji-oh also antagonized police for failing to provide sufficient security based on allegations a later investigation determined to be unfounded.

In a social media post on October 29th Yoon Ji-oh claimed that Canadian police understood the difficulties in her situation and asserted her innocence, claiming that attempts were being made to frame her. Yoon Ji-oh had previously claimed that she could not return to South Korea because she needed to take care of her ailing mother, though her mother turned out to not actually be sick. With the issuance of the arrest warrant, Yoon Ji-oh could concievably be extradited back to South Korea.
