[HanCinema's News] 10 Korean Actors Who Have The Best Comedic Timing

Part of the appeal of Korean dramas is the fact that it delves into and explores multiple genres within what if oftentimes, the same narrative. A romantic comedy is rarely just a romantic comedy. A thriller is rarely simply a thriller. However, out of all the genres that K-Dramas have been able to perfect, comedy remains the hardest and most difficult one of all. Here are our picks for 10 Korean actors who have impeccable comedic timing.

Kang Ha-neul

One of the most versatile actors in the Korean entertainment industry, Kang Ha-neul deserves high praise for his talent in making people laugh with just as much intensity as when he's making them cry. Kang Ha-neul has a certain simplicity to his persona that is so endearing that it automatically makes all his characters equally as admirable. We love laughing with him.

Cho Jung-seok

Cho Jung-seok is one of the best actors when it comes to comedy and this is absolutely an incontestable fact at this point. From "Hospital Playlist" to "Don't Dare to Dream", "Oh My Ghostess" and many many more, Cho Jung-seok has solidified his position as the best.

Song Joong-ki

Song Joong-ki wasn't very well known for his comedic timing but that was until we saw him in "Vincenzo". Ironically, "Vincenzo" was also perhaps the darkest drama he has starred in but he brings out the comedic aspect of this dark comedy artfully well, proving once and for all, that he really is a master of all trades.

Lee Hyeri

This list would never be complete without the most beloved actress of all time, Lee Hyeri. After all, who can forget how Lee Hyeri single handedly carried "Reply 1988" so beautifully that it left us clamouring for another season? Lee Hyeri is currently appearing in the drama "My Roommate Is a Gumiho" and as it turns out, she's just as adorably hilarious as before.

Jun Ji-hyun

The highest paid actress in the Korean entertainment industry deserves her title rightfully. Jun Ji-hyun is the queen of expressing even the most difficult of emotions and delivering on even the hardest situations and genres. Comedy is a piece of cake for Jun Ji-hyun because she is just that effortlessly good at it.

Gong Yoo

Gong Yoo is one of those actors who is just as loveable off screen as he is on screen. His sense of humour is so natural that it is carried over to his character and spills over in just the right scenes. We can't help but wonder how someone can make us fall in love and laugh like no tomorrow like Gong Yoo.

Kong Hyo-jin

Kong Hyo-jin is definitely one of the most talented actresses in the industry, with range unlike any other. She too, can perfectly imbue her characters with the right emotions so as to make us forget that we're watching fiction. Her comedy is subtle and often deadpan rather than being slapstick and obvious and it is exactly this that makes her so great.

Lee Ji-eun

Lee Ji-eun is hard-working, sincere, talented and more importantly, knows how to live her life to the fullest. She has a successful singing career and is equally as praised in the acting avenue. Lee Ji-eun's filmography is diverse and versatile and truly shows her knack for the art. The same person who made us cry and empathise with her in "My Mister" is also the one who made us laugh our hearts out in "Hotel Del Luna". Lee Ji-eun's comedy is rather situational than being based on jokes and this is exactly why we praise her comedic timing.

Shin Hye-sun

There has been no actress in recent times who is as perfectly masterful as Shin Hye-sun. The actress knows how to pick her projects. She embodies her characters with utmost care and it shows. While she wasn't exactly known for comedy, "Mr. Queen" changed it all as it brought to the spotlight, her diverse capabilities and talents. We hope to see her in another comedic role again!

Kim Jung-hyun

One cannot simply speak of comedy and not include, the "King" himself (all puns intended). Kim Jung-hyun has always been known for his amazing talent at comedy and making people laugh until all their blues have washed away. From "Welcome to Waikiki" to "Mr. Queen" and even some of his more serious roles such as those in "Stay With Me", "Crash Landing on You" and "School 2017", Kim Jung-hyun has always imparted a unique colour to his characters which ends up bringing a smile to the audience's lips without a doubt. We can't wait for the actor to make his screen comeback soon!
