[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Who Are You - School 2015" Episode 15

The story moves somewhat sedately here, as the emphasis is on making peace and moving on. Pretty much every character relationship that has had any conflict at all is resolved except for So-yeong's vendetta. And that's really just gotten tiring at this point. It's exactly like her dad says- she needs to shut up and stop initiating conflict. So-yeong still hasn't figured out that nobody actually cares whether or not she's right. And given Eun-byeol's behavior, it seems likely that the twins weren't actually planning on keeping this secret forever anyway.

On the more positive end, the resolution of the issues between I-an and Eun-byeol is very sweet. I-an finally just acts honest with himself and admits that there has never been any kind of convincing chemistry between him and Eun-byeol. That's been his big takeaway from what happened with Eun-bi. The fact that I-an could feel a more convincing spark with a stranger than with the girl he's known most of his life was a pretty big clue.

Yet there's also a broader sense of the advantages I-an has. The injury isn't as serious as originally thought, so I-an can still pursue his athletic aspirations. And even if I-an is one of the poorer characters financially he still has a rich family life with a loving, attentive dad who puts up with I-an's bad moods. Up until now this hasn't seemed like much, but consider the look on Tae-kwang's face. Tae-kwang is only just now coming to appreciate that his dad isn't that big a stranger.

Even if the political situation at school has been completely shuffled, life goes on. Joon-seok isn't going to be a presence at school anymore, but as a capable teacher, his presence will be missed. I have to admit that earlier on, I was expecting the main school to have more of a bullying plotline, with the cluelessness of the teachers being a symptom of the issues. But thinking back Joon-seok has always been fairly diligent about following up on potential leads, even if he looked like a fool in the process.

I'm not willing to state that "Who Are You - School 2015" has been a complete success. While all the plot points flow all right there's still not the same urgency and social commentary that was present in the earlier episodes. Perhaps this is just a matter of the drama moving into its most conclusive phase. Regardless, the charm and heart behind the performances of the cast continue to make "Who Are You - School 2015" a pleasure to watch.
