[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Lookout" Episodes 15-16

Bo-mi takes front and center as she tries to reclaim her life. She tries to do it alone, which is how she's been living, but finds that she has people who have her back.

The most obvious person who is beside her is Kyung-soo, the man with whom she bantered and fought without ever seeing his face. There has always been a romantic undertone between them and once he sees her in person and is kind (and obviously attracted to her), it breaks down a barrier that she desperately needed gone. After meeting Kyung-soo, she opens up more to Soo-ji who protects her fiercely. I would no longer call these three mere co-workers - they've definitely knit themselves a family. Whether or not Kyung-soo and Bo-mi start dating, I'll be happy that these lonely misfits have found others to lean on.

As for Do-han, he's mostly definitely close to having his cover blown and it's about time. His plan is not solid enough to last much farther than these next few episodes and it's to move past the secret missions and the suspicion of the rogue justice team. The role is getting a bit stagnant save for one factor: he is now ingratiated to Chief Prosecutor Yoon. I wonder how quickly his son, Si-wan, will cotton onto Do-han's true intentions. It's always the sociopaths who can cut paste facades. Speaking of Si-wan, where has his storyline gone? It's all chases, gun show downs, and very little of him. To maintain his menace, it would be good to see what other ills Si-wan has spread into the world.

The plot itself is plunking along and the moving pieces are plunking along beside it. Officer Nam is as lively as cardboard as a player (which has nothing to do with Jung Suk-yong and everything to do with the writing) and Eun-joong is still hovering around the periphery of the drama, but little does he develop.

Because we are almost halfway through the tale, I expected more to have happened by now. A turning point better be coming soon.
