Final contest advance films in WFFIS 2005's Asia short film competition part

The executive committee of the 7th Women's Film Festival in Seoul (WFFIS 2005) announced the Film Festival's final contest advance films in its Asia short film competition part.

A total of 18 final contest films consist of 14 films from Korea, and 4 films from overseas. The 7th Women's Film Festival is held from April 8 through April 15 in Seoul, Korea.

This Women's Film Festival is a Non-competitive international film festival with partial competition categories, which screens films dealing with various aspects of life seen through the eyes of women.

The Film Festival's purpose is to introduce the most recent trends of women's films of today, to serve as the Asian center for the international women's films network, to discover talents for Asian women's films and supporting projects for Asian women's films, to promote a perspective striving for a new culture whereby women are the leaders and the participants in cultural production, to seek understanding and unity between women's organizations and the audience through the promotion of visual media activities of women's activist organizations and to create solidarity between local and international women film community.

Its program includes New Currents: Recently produced and outstanding films by women filmmakers from around the world for special recognition, Feminist Film & Video Activism: Vitalizes the visual media movement in women's groups, Young Feminist Forum: In-depth spotlights on issue-fighting cinema for young feminist audience, Director in Focus: Illuminates one female director's films, Korea Cinema Retrospective: Reconsiders women's lives, experiences and histories in Korean Cinema, Asian Cinema: Explores identities and visions of Asian women through cinema, Asian Short Film & Video Competition: Only competitive section in WFFIS to further promote women's filmmaking in Asian Pacific region, Documentary Ockrang Award: Screening the Ockrang awardees (noted for support project for documentary making).
