Film "Love Tree" ("Now and Forever") attracts Japanese Tourists to Woodo Island

The film "Yeonriji" or "the Love Tree" ("Now and Forever"), which stars Choi Ji-woo and Jo Han-sun, is now creating a buzz due to its beautiful scenes taken on Woodo Island, which is a part of Jeju Island. The Korean movie will be released in 275 cinemas in Japan from April 15.

Japan's largest tourist agency JTB will begin selling from May a three-day and two night package in which tourists can visit Woodo Island and spend nights at a hotel where the starring actors stayed.

The film production team spent 50 million won on planting the love tree featured in the movie on the island, saying "Woodo is the most suitable location site". It donated the tree to Jeju Island after completing the filming. The female lead Choi also praised the beautiful landscape of the island.

Woodo Island will likely become another tourist site attracting Japanese people who want to visit filming locations of Korean famous dramas and films.

Tourist packages to those locations are so popular among Japanese tourists that 15 percent of them have taken advantage of such deals.

In particular, Jeju Island has been preferred by foreign tourists after the movie and drama "All In" became a massive hit in neighboring countries. The island is expected to draw more Japanese tourists, as the movie "Love Tree" ("Now and Forever") and drama "Four Gods" have been filmed there. The drama "Four Gods" ("The Legend") stars Bae Yong-joon, who is dubbed "Yonsama" in Japan due to his great popularity.

Korean Air increased the frequency of flights linking Jeju and Japan's Haneda Airport last month from four times a week to once a day in preparation for the likely rise in the number of Japanese tourists.
