Film director Park dies of cancer

Promising film director Park Seong-beom, who made his debut with bouncy comedy "Cheaters" in 2007, died of spinal cord cancer early Sunday morning. He was 41.
He was diagnosed with the cancer, while preparing for his third film, and passed away in one year of fighting against the cancer.
He was acclaimed for his 2009 work, "Something to do Before Dying",which is regarded as the first one-man-style film in Korea. His debut film was not a hit, only regarded as the one to open the possibility for success.
Born in Daejeon in 1969, he majored in study of play and movie at the graduate school of media communications at Sogang University.
His body is laid at Shincheon Union Hospital in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, and funeral service will be held at Byeokje Cremation Center in northern Gyeonggi Province Tuesday.

지난해부터 척수암으로 투병중이던 박 감독은 15일 오전 0시15분께 경기도 시흥시 대야동 신천연합병원에서 숨졌다.
고 박 감독은 지난해 영호 '죽기 전에 해야 할 몇 가지 것들'을 완성한 뒤 지난해 6월께 척수암 판정을 받아 약 1년간 투병해 왔다.
고인의 유족은 15일 오전 머니투데이 스타뉴스에서 "차기작을 준비하다 병원을 찾았는데 척수암 판정을 받아 그간 투병생활을 해 왔다"며 "치료 중 갑자기 병세가 악화돼 오늘 새벽 숨을 거두셨다"고 밝혔다.
1969년생인 고 박성범 감독은 영화 '행복한 장의사', '나도 아내가 있었으면 좋겠다' 조감독을 거쳤으며, 단편 '그녀는', '리워드' 등을 연출했다. 2007년 섹시 코미디 영화 '내 여자의 남자친구'로 장편 감독으로 데뷔했으며, 지난해에는 문득 자살을 결심한 주인공의 이야기를 담은 2번째 장편영화 '죽기 전에 해야 할 몇 가지 것들'을 내놨다.
고인의 빈소는 신천연합병원 장례식장 2호실에 마련됐다. 발인은 17일 오전 7시, 장지는 벽제화장장이다.
