Esom, Kim Ga-eun, and Park Byung-eun signed up for drama "Because This Is My First Life"

tvN brings us more casting news for tvN's "Because This Is My First Life" that will air after "Argon" ends in October. Esom, Kim Ga-eun, and Park Byung-eun have signed up to join stars Lee Min-ki and Jung So-min and director Park Joon-hwa ("Bring It On, Ghost" and the "Let's Eat" franchise).

"Because This Is My First Life" is a cohabitation story involving a house-poor man and a homeless woman. The drama will explore the youth of today as they live through the troubles of love, marriage, and careers, which is a premise I can get behind. Some of my favorite dramas exploring love, marriage, and living in today's age like "I Need Romance Season 3" and "The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry".

Esom who will play Yoo Soo-ji and Kim Ga-eun who will play Yang Ho-rang (or if you make the pun, Yang Tiger) play Jung So-min's friends since high school. Free-lover Soo-ji believes that love is just a tool for solving problems of desire. The role is one that Esom ("Like for Likes", "Scarlet Innocence", "My Little Brother") hopes will expand her acting palette. She's already such a diverse actress that I'm sure it will.

Kim Ga-eun's character Ho-rang is the opposite of Soo-ji, a goal-oriented romantic, a princess type, who dreams of a fairy tale life that lands her in a paper-perfect marriage with a successful man. After appearing in "The Royal Gambler" and "I Can Hear Your Voice", Kim Ga-eun earnestly considers how to best portray her new role. If this role is what it sounds like, it will push Kim Ga-eun as her character suffers from the after affects of getting what she wants.

The last of the latest additions to the cast is Park Byung-eun who will be the CEO of Na Se-hee's (Lee Min-ki's) company. It seems he is a good man with a one-sided thing for Soo-ji, the woman who uses love as a tool. Park Byung-eun is hoping to charm with this character who vacillates between machismo and the purity of his love. With an impressive filmography behind him ("The Assassination", "One Line", "Queen of Mystery", "Woman with a Suitcase"), his addition to the cast has raised the bar for the drama.

"Because This Is My First Life" aims to touch on the reality of the YOLO (you only live once) lifestyle. With a cast full of characters ready to experience all different kinds of love and marriage, the drama nods its head to the real troubles of men and women today.

This drama definitely sounds interesting in its efforts to relate to the young people of today, and I've liked the works of Esom, Kim Ga-eun and Park Byung-eun. With those two elements, this sounds like a drama to anticipate.
