Death of Park Yong-ha

Dear editor,

The death of Park Yong-ha came as a shock to everyone. Park was a well-known actor and singer in the South Korean entertainment business. He became popular and rose to fame in 2002's "Winter Sonata" where he co-starred with Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo.

A promising actor in his prime, the death of Park caused many of his ardent supporters to become grief-stricken with tears streaming down from their reddened eyes.

Park was the latest in a string of high-profile suicides in South Korea. From Choi Jin-sil to Park Yong-ha, we have seen several actors and actresses commit suicide due to their inability to cope with stress and solve their problems rationally.

Park's family must be devastated over his sudden death. His father, whom he had given a massage to before the fateful hour, must be grieving over his son's unpredictable passing. It was reported that his father has terminal stage stomach cancer. Park, a filial son was very depressed over his illness.

I am sure that this is the hardest time for his grieving family to overcome. For those who are left behind, they are the ones who are actually suffering more from the pain over the loss of their loved one.

There is a saying: Loss cannot be measured and the pain cannot be described.

Most suicides are preventable, if we are genuinely show our care and concern to a person in great distress and depression.

My deepest condolences to Park's family and may they find the strength to overcome this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
