Culture ministry sets up Hallyu task force

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism said on Thursday (Mar. 23) that it has set up a task force, in which cultural and tourism sectors will work together to develop tourism and strengthen Hallyu, the Korean pop-cultre wave hitting Asia and beyond.

The task force comprising officials from the Korea Foundation for Asian Culture Exchange, Korea Culture and Content Agency, the Korea Tourism Organization, a Hotelier association as well as from the ministry, will mutually cooperate in the development of the tourism industry and overseas promotions taking advantage of Hallyu.

The task force's initial job will be to have screenriters in and out of the country tour Hallyu-related attractions in an effort to establish a support system from an early stage by feeding related Hallyu information, according to the ministry.

The task force will also be actively involved in the third Asian Song Festival scheduled for September and other big-name cultural events in terms of joint marketing in cultural and tourism fields and joint study of overseas markets.
