Celebrity Couple Tie Knot in Valentine's Extravaganza

The groom's father is Samsung Electronics vice chairman Yoon Jong-yong, so the two actors' wedding was attended by some 4,000 business, political and society figures including former Seoul mayor and Grand National Party presidential hopeful Lee Myung-bak, LG Electronics vice chairman Kim Ssang-su, former finance minister Lee Hun-jai, former Constitutional Court president Yun Young-chul and the disgraced cloning scientist Hwang Woo-suk. Other guests included the actors Kim Rae-won, Won Gi-joon and Choi Min-soo, and comedians Park Soo-hong, Kang Ho-dong and Yoon Jeong-soo. Former culture and tourism Minister Yi O-ryong presided over the ceremony and broadcaster Kim Je-dong emceed. The wedding song came courtesy of Lena Park.

The couple did not receive wedding gifts or garlands but offered dinner to guests as a token of thanks, reportedly at some W150,000 (US$1=W939) a head. The whole party therefore would have cost at least W150 million if only 1,000 guests were wined and dined. Some 200 selected guests attended the ceremony proper, which was held in the hotel's Dynasty Hall. The rest had to content themselves with watching the nuptials on a big screen.

Yoon will continue acting after his marriage, but the bride is to retire from the entertainment industry and concentrate on making a home for the two of them. The couple will postpone their honeymoon until after Yoon completes filming of the MBC historic drama "Taewangsashingi" ("The Legend"), which deals with the history of the Koguryo Kingdom from its founding to the achievements of King Kwanggaeto the Great. The drama airs in May.

The two became close when they played siblings in the KBS drama "Above Green Field" in 2003. Their relationship blossomed into love, and they started dating seriously in 2005.
