Buoyed by K-pop Concert, F1 Tickets Selling Like Hotcakes

Girls' Generation and Super Junior will join a raft of pop stars in Yeongam to stage a K-pop concert at the Korea International Circuit on Oct. 15, one day before the second Korean Formula One on race-day Sunday, F1 Korea organizers said on Wednesday.

Fifteen K-pop groups are due to perform including T-ara and FT Island. The concert is free to any ticket holders of the Grand Prix.

Ticket holders can also benefit from free entry to a number of famous tourist spots in South Jeolla Province as well, and these newly added bonuses are helping speed up ticket sales.

Seventeen booths reserved for corporate customers are priced at a hefty W2.6 million per person, but all of these "skyboxes" were sold out in mid-September (US$1=W1,171). So were the I and J tickets in the grand stand, which cost between W87,000 and W180,000 but allow visitors to enjoy the racing set against a spectacular backdrop of the setting sun.

Category A seats, which are positioned at points on the tracks where racers are most likely to challenge and overtake their rivals, cost between W370,000 and W690,000 but these are also nearly sold out.

All facilities around the circuit will be finished by the end of this month after three years and 10 months' construction.

The official completion of the complex, which includes 64 buildings and a 5.615-km-long track, was postponed due to unresolved issues surrounding the ownership of the land.
