[BRIEFLY] 'Kimjongilia' to compete in Sundance

"Kimjongilia", a French-U.S. documentary on North Korea based on testimonies of defectors, will be vying in the international documentary competition at the Sundance Film Festival in January, news reports said yesterday.

"Kimjongilia", directed by American N.C. Heikin, consists of vivid recounts of the reclusive regime by 13 defectors.

Kimjongilia refers to the flower named after Kim Jong-il. The director said in an interview with the Voice of America that the commonalities among the interviewed defectors were that they all dearly loved the country and longed for it to change.

The film was shot in Seoul, South Korea. The Sundance Festival opens on Jan. 15-25 in Park City in Utah, the United States.
