Bae Yong-joon consoles seriously ill Taiwanese fan

Top hallyu star Bae Yong-joon, who is visiting Taiwan to promote his movie "April Snow", shed tears recently when visiting one of his fans affected with lung cancer, and wished her a speedy recovery.

Taiwanese media reported on Aug. 21 that Bae cried when visiting Wanpang Hospital in Taipei, where Jen Meiju, the mother of his Taiwanese fan club chairman and an ardent Bae fan, is receiving treatment for lung cancer.

Since she was diagnosed with cancer, Jen's only consolation was looking at Bae's pictures and talking about the actor with the members of his fan club, who visit her regularly. But recently, her condition has deteriorated significantly, leaving her almost unable to speak as she has to rely on an oxygen mask.

Bae initially refused to answer reporters' questions immediately after visiting the hospital, citing that he was feeling too doleful to talk about the visit. But in an interview with the Taiwanese broadcaster ETTV on the evening of that same day, he said he wished Jen a fast recovery because he cares about her like his own mother.

When the actor was leaving Taiwan after a three-day stay there, his Taiwanese, Japanese, Hong Kong, Singaporean and Thai fans wrote slogans in Korean reading "Don't go". In response, Bae said in Chinese, "I will come again"."
