"Autumn Fairy Tale" Sparks Hallyu Wave in Sakhalin

The popular KBS drama "Autumn Fairy Tale", starring Song Hye-kyo and Song Seung-heon, has set off the "hallyu" wave in Sakhalin, Russia, as well. Sakhalin Korean TV (KTV) ran the Russian-subtitled drama from August to December last year.

"Russian-Koreans of all three generations residing in Sakhalin watched this drama together", said Kim Chun-ja, director of Sakhalin KTV. She also added that an increasing number of Russian-Koreans want to visit Korea after watching "Autumn Fairy Tale". This miniseries captivated the hearts of Sakhalin viewers to an extent that it became the prime topic of conversation among people.

Currently, KTV is running "Ijema", starring Choi Soo-jong, and a number of other Korean programs such as the KBS Open Concert.

"Many viewers are asking us to show 'Winter Sonata,' so we plan to request KBS to help us put this drama on the air as well", said Kim.
