Arts School to Nurture K-Pop Stars

K-pop fever went beyond Asia and took Europe by storm earlier this year.
The dynamic dance moves, trendy songs and the dazzling artists have won the hearts of a growing number of fans in the Americas as well.
What's more striking is that many foreigners are now benchmarking Korean idol groups, becoming self-proclaimed wannabes.
And now there is a way they can get started.
Top talent agency SM Entertainment and Gyeonggi Province have teamed up to set up an international arts academy dedicated to nurturing K-pop stars.
SM was founded in 1995 and has since produced a number of stars who have gone global.

"I wanted to gather the world's top talents, train them and send them back to the global cultural stage. Gyeonggi Province and Osan City made this offer and we're launching this school".

Tentatively named SM International Academy, the facility will be set up in Osan on 185-thousand square meters of land.
This is the site for three studios and an international arts school.
The groundbreaking will start next month with the local governments' support in road construction and administration.

"With three major studios, we hope that the school will serve as a birthplace for brilliant artists who will overwhelm fans across the world".

The launch of the international academy is also anticipated to boost developing new content that will help keep the K-pop boom a lasting success.
