Actress Shin Hye-sun has established herself as one of the leading up-and-coming actresses after the overnight success of her latest TV series. In the recently ended TV drama "My Golden Life", she played her first starring role successfully.

"I found the lengthy drama series burdensome, but after reading the first part of the script, I just knew I had to do it", Shin recalled.

Shin said she had dreamed of becoming an actor since she was in elementary school. "I dreamed of being an actress for a long time, but I didn't know what to do. The only way I knew was to major in acting in university", she said. "At first, I felt helpless. All my efforts seemed to go nowhere. But I've been lucky enough to have come this far. I really don't know where all the time has gone".

But Shin isn't about to rest on her laurels with her most recent success. "During my long period of obscurity, I thought my worries would be over once I got a starring role, but I was wrong. Now I feel a lot of pressure over what to do for my next step. There are many things I have to consider now, as my fans and viewers may have higher expectations of me", said Shin.

Before making another big move, Shin will, meanwhile, star with actor Lee Jong-suk in a two-episode TV series, which will begin shooting in mid-April.

"Lee and I went to the same high school, although he later transferred to another school. He suddenly became a popular star, so to me, he is not a just friend but someone whom I can learn from", Shin said.

"I made my debut with a TV series in 2013, where I got a small part and he also appeared, so it's a reunion after about five years", she said. "I'm sure I can learn a lot from Lee while we're working together".
