Actress Kim Ha-neul Says Marriage Helps Her Take It Easy

Actress Kim Ha-neul showed she is a perfect fit for melodramas through her recent TV series, "Road to the Airport" which ended last week. It was her first soap in four years after the megahit TV series "A Gentleman's Dignity".

The melodrama revolved around a flight attendant with a teenage daughter who falls in love with a married man. "It was quite challenging to portray a married woman who anguishes whether to keep a meaningless marriage or follow what her heart tells her to do", she said. "It was also difficult for me to play a mother as I mostly played single women, but I wanted to do it as I figured that I can have many things to show".

Her efforts seemed to pay off, as the series garnered a favorable response mostly from women in their 30s and 40s, who even rushed to buy whatever she wears in the series.

Kim married a businessman in March last year.

"My husband, who used to not be a big fan of soaps, watched all the episodes and gave me his full support, which greatly cheered me up during shooting", she said. "Recently, many of my friends said to me I look more comfortable and relaxed. That's probably because of the fact that I have someone I can lean on".

"I like melodramatic roles and am willing to do them always, but as for my next project, I want a more active and energetic role".
