[HanCinema's News] HighZium Studio Criticized for Choosing a Small Venue for Kim Ji-won's First Fan Meeting

Fans of Kim Ji-won were excited when her agency, HighZium Studio, announced the actress's first fan meeting on June 22nd under the title of BE MY ONE. But this praise turned critical once they realized that HighZium Studio had selected a relatively small venue for the event. The Shinhan Card SOLpay Square Live Hall only seats 424 people. Disappointed fans have already been petitioning HighZium Studio to move the event to a larger venue that can seat at least a thousand people.

Kim Ji-won's first major role was as part of the ensemble of "High Kick 3, The Short Legs Counterattack" back in 2011, although "The Heirs" in 2013 is generally considered her first high exposure role. While she has had loyal fans since her second lead role in "Descendants of the Sun" back in 2016, it was only with "Queen of Tears" this year that her profile had risen high enough for a fan meeting to seem logical. Yet even now, HighZium appears pessimistic about possible attendance.

"Queen of Tears" has been an indisputable success in any case. With domestic television ratings of 24.85%, it is the third most highly rated television drama of all time on South Korean television. Its run on tvN ended this past April 28th, followed up by a two part special commemorative series on May 4th and May 5th with a full look at the drama's 390 day production period including interviews with guest stars.
