'Sunny - 2010' Hits 3 Million Viewers Mark

The film "Sunny - 2010" lured over three million moviegoers in just 24 days after its debut. It surpassed the one million mark within its first week, and drew a total 3.05 million moviegoers as of Friday, according to data compiled by the Korea Film Council.

Buoyed by strong word-of-mouth, it topped the weekend chart in terms of seat occupancy for a third week running, despite a flurry of Hollywood blockbusters including "Source Code", "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", and "Kung Fu Panda 2".

"Sunny - 2010" appeals to viewers through nostalgia, telling a humorous and touching story of seven high school friends who rediscover the best moments of their life at a reunion 25 years later.

As the film is hailed as a must-see and many viewers watch it more than once, its popularity is likely to continue. Having hit the three million mark, it now ranks second in cinema attendance among Korean films released this year, trailing "Detective K" with 4.79 million.
