Disney's animated film "Frozen II" hit the 10-million-viewer mark on Saturday, just 17 days after its release late last month.

It became the 27th film and the eighth foreign film to attract more than 10 million viewers in Korea. It is also the first time an animated film and its sequel have both reached the milestone here. "Frozen II" even outpaced its predecessor, which took 46 days to achieve the feat at the time of its release here in 2014.

Although it does not have a catchy song like "Let It Go" this time, the sequel is attracting hordes of moviegoers as it is visually stunning with a more varied and complex storyline.

Rave reviews and strong word-of-mouth also keep drawing moviegoers, with some 6.5 percent of them watching the film multiple times.

But some critics attribute the instant success of the film to the huge popularity of the first film, like the "Avengers" series, each installment of which has been more popular than its predecessor.
