'Cold Eyes' Smashes 2-Million Mark in First Week

"Cold Eyes" hit the 2-million mark in cinema attendance on Tuesday within a week of its release. According to data supplied by the Korean Film Council, the film sold 204,902 tickets on Tuesday alone to sit atop the local box office. The accumulated number of spectators was 2.17 million.

The film has dominated the local box office since its release on July 3, beating Hollywood blockbuster "World War Z". It received much attention for its star-studded cast, including Sol Kyung-gu, Jung Woo-sung and Han Hyo-joo. As Jeong plays a villain for the first time in his career, it drew even more attention from fans. The movie revolves around a group of detectives who track down high-profile criminals.

"World War Z" drew 74,181 moviegoers on Tuesday to rank second at the box office, followed by the Korean thriller "Killer Toon" with 32,812 tickets sold.
