[HanCinema's News] Lee Yeong-seok Surprises Again With Scene-stealing Role in "Moon in the Day"

Lee Yeong-seok is not an especially well-known actor, typically appearing in minor roles. However, one such role had surprising impact last month, where he played the role of Deok-cheol in "My Dearest" who had once saved the lead character played by Ahn Eun-jin only to meet an unfortunate fate. The plot between the two of solidarity and rebellion struck a strong chord with viewers, despite the sixty-four year old actor being far from a famous name.

But South Korean drama fans had a chance to see him again in the premiere of "Moon in the Day" where Lee Yeong-seok once again has a minor role as a chief monk. There, he gives crucial exposition as to the nature of the soul held by the lead character who's played as an adult by Kim Young-dae. His warnings to the young protagonist about needing to forget what he yet remembers are critical to setting much of the tone for the reincarnation-themed romance.

Lee Young-seok has yet to be confirmed for any other projects, although these recent appearances have no doubt raised his profile among casting directors. "My Dearest" had ratings of 12% in its most recent episode, the sixteenth, which aired on October 28th. "Moon in the Day" had opening ratings of 1.581% on November 1st.
